I said it before and I said it again...
Not having a majority owner on the GBP Organization is hurting this team more than ever in a Free Agency driving NFL era.
Murphy & Gutekunst does not report to a single owner; they report to a Executive Committee (Murphy is part of it) that "directs corporate management, approves major capital expenditures, establishes broad policy and monitors management's performance in conducting the business and affairs of the corporation".(https://www.packers.com/team/executive-committee).
It says nothing about football operations.
Then there is a Board Of Directors composed of 42 members! that I think they are not involved in footbal operations and another Board of Directors Emeritus with 38 members that, I think are honorary titles.
So, where does this organization stands?
I think Murphy & Gutekunst are not afraid of losing their jobs, because nobody is going to fire them, then the decisions they take (good or bad) does not affect their status and sure none of the other members of the management team.
Being a shareholder of the GBP Organization, is very romantic (I'm one of the more than 537,000 shareholders), but I truly believe that in this modern times of free agency, dynamic transactions, competitive teams and agile decisions, a strucutre with a majority owner is imperative.
After more than 31 years with 2 elite QBs, GBP has only 2 more championships; in terms of achivement, it is not what we expected. I would say that at least, BF4 & AR12, should have each 2 a piece... At least!
The NFL today, is a league that demands performance with quick and short term achievements (championships). To create a dynasty is very difficult if not almost impossible. To re-build a team on the long run is no longer feasible because on this era of free agency the window is narrow and closes very quickly. This is the reason why the 1st round drafted QBs are not delivering, because all teams demand quick results, because there is no patience for them.
Then I really don't know what Murphy & Gutekunst are thinking about and I'm sure that without a majority owner, there is no pressure for both of them.
